PETROS CHANNELS RM1 MILLION TO UNIFOR TO ADVANCE INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

10 August 2026, Kuching - Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) has extended its community investment efforts with an allocation of RM1 million to the UNIFOR Charitable Trust (SUCT), reinforcing its commitment to fostering inclusivity and social cohesion across the State.

The contribution supports Unit For Other Religions (UNIFOR)’s ongoing role in coordinating assistance for non-Muslim houses of worship and related community initiatives, complementing broader efforts to ensure that development reaches all segments of Sarawak’s diverse society. 

This latest initiative builds on PETROS’ recently fulfilled corporate zakat responsibility, reflecting a holistic approach to community upliftment that embraces compassion, unity and shared progress across all faiths and backgrounds. 

PETROS Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Hamid Bin Bugo, said the contribution underscores the company’s belief that sustainable development must be inclusive and community-driven. Our contribution must also have long term impact on the target groups.

“Through this collaboration with UNIFOR, we aim to support platforms that strengthen harmony, promote mutual respect and contribute to the wellbeing of all Sarawakians,” he continued.

Established as a key coordinating body, UNIFOR plays an important role in facilitating structured and equitable support for non-Muslim religious institutions, serving as a cornerstone of Sarawak’s model of interfaith cooperation and unity. 

Aligned with Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), the initiative reflects a shared vision of balanced progress - one that not only drives economic growth but also nurtures social cohesion and inclusivity.

Through sustained contributions and strategic partnerships, PETROS continues to play its part in empowering communities and advancing Sarawak’s development in a manner that is both meaningful and enduring.
